Do cable companies DVR recorders skip over copy protected shows?

Because I was disappointed when I bought a new DVD recorder and some shows are blocked from being recorded.

It is possible you can't record Pay per view shows.

They will record the shows onto your DVR but if the show in copy protected then it wont record on your DVD recorder.
This is not the fault of the cable company but the program suppliers protecting there right to sell you the program on DVD at a later stage at a inflated price.
