If it were normal, the majority of us would want to be boys. No, of course it's not normal. It's not bad, but it's not normal.

There's a lot of good, sound comments here (and a few nasty ones unfortunately).
As for your question, it is one that only you can really answer. I know a few women (and a few guys) who would love to swap sexes, so I think it's becoming 'more' normal than it has been perceived in the past.
The only advice I would really want to give you, is to do what makes *you* happiest, but don't forego your family & friends unless you are 101% certain - this is a lifelong decision.
All that assumes you want to go through with changing. Perhaps you're just a tomboy? Nothing wrong with that at all.
Sadly, mj_violaceous has misunderstood the context of your conern and used her answer to bash men with feminist propaganda that she undoubtedly cannot substantiate, especially when you consider the many factors RoVale has brought attention to (as a guy, I can confirm the realities of her words).
I would consider perhaps hanging out with primarly men for a while... not a few weeks, I mean take a good year or two and learn their mentalities, they're way of communicating etc. Learn what men do, and see if that is really what you want.
Whatever your choices, best fortune with them...

My husband says that it's actually not easier being a male in this society. Their choices in life are more limited. For example, men who want to be househusbands are looked down upon but women who want to be homemakers aren't. A man is expected to be a provider. If he isn't, then he's some sort of an inferior human being. Girls can be dressed in boys' clothes but not the other way around. A boy who wants to play with dolls is called a sissy but it's fine for a girl to play with boys' toys. Women can cry and show all sorts of emotions but it's considered unmanly if a man does it. Boys aren't supposed to like ballet or classical music but it's fine if a girl likes football or professional wrestling. Boys are supposed to love sports and be athletic. If they aren't, then there must be something wrong with them. You don't see that as much with girls. They might not like girly things but that's not considered as bad as a boy not liking manly things.

Hi Malon, This is happening to a lot of girls and guys. You are trap inside a girls body and have the signs of being a boy.
This is normal for you. The only way you could make this happen is have surgery and it is very costly. You would never be able to get a woman pregnant because your penis would have been made for you. Wishing you all the luck in the world.
A Friend.

I guess it depends on your age. If you are young then it might just be a phase you are going through and it may pass.
However if this keeps up then you should go to a doctor and have a chat. There is a condition that makes people this way and some people do have sex changes if that is what they really need to feel normal.
I imagine though that you are going to need all the support you can get and it's good if you have someone trusted to talk to about all this.
Good luck, you'll get through it. Stay strong.

Don't worry so much about being normal. How you feel is all you should care about. There is no such thing as sanity, only a large variation of insanity. When you are young your body gives a lot of mixed signals, as you get older, these signals will guide you to your right path, the one for you. Don't let other people guide you there. They should follow their own. I'ts your choice, make it and live by it. You will be happy with it if your honest with yourself.

Yes it's normal because we live in a society where it's still easier to be male then female. If we grow up seeing that boys are treated better and have more opportunities and more freedom then we want to be boys. Learning to value being female doesn't happen automatically when it isn't taught to us. It can take time to really learn to appreciate ourselves. On the other hand if you really and truly want to have a male body so you can pee standing up, no I don't think that's normal.

NO, it is NOT normal and hopefully for you, it will pass. You're given your gender at birth - it's not something you can change.
