What classes do you need in college?

That depends on what university you plan on attending. Although most universities follow a guideline on what classes are needed for a particular major, they do vary. For instance, I am a microbiology major. Originally, I was planning on attending the University of Florida so I took Microeconomics and Elements of Public Speaking at the junior college I was attending because UF required these classes as prerequisites. However, after graduating from junior college, I decided to instead attend the University of West Florida. UWF did not require those classes. Instead, they required me to take Elements of Statistics and Zoology (classes that UF did not require). Your best bet would be to determine what university you would like to attend and look at that university's requirements for the degree program that interests you. Many university's have copies of their catalogs online so you can look up what classes you need for this major at home.

You'll need to pass required courses that are outlined for college's particular guidelines for graduation in the program. Many colleges should have this available online through their "perspective students" link(or just searching "history major" through the university website). This will include taking general studies such as your english and math courses. If you plan to teach history in the local schools, then you'll also need to pass your "in-feild" student observation and student teaching assignments. In addition, you'll have to pass several exams, and maybe a teaching portfolio defense, to obtain your teaching license. There will probably an exam on the knowledge of your subject area as well as your overall teaching knowledge. Hope this helps.
