What are some things I can do to make sure my life will be easier on my own. I am 20, am graduating with a bachelors in Accounting. I have exact 1 year left for graduation. I live in N.Y.

To be independent, first of all you need to start doing your things on your own. This is your best time to learn the things to do better because you are with your parents and they will help you with their experience that they have gained. While living with your parents you need to make yourself feel like you are independent and you can do your things on your own. Start Saving money and plan your budget and learn to live within your budget.

Read Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover" It will give you a step by step plan on how to budget, save and never be in debt.

Create a budget and force your self to follow it.
No going out and spending money when the budget says you have bills to pay.
Set up the budget with fictional bills like the ones you will have when one your own.
