OK find a position where you will be comfy and be able to relax your muscles. It can be sitting on the toilet, standing with a foot on the toilet or bath tub or crouching down.with your legs apart. Maybe even curling up in your bed the first time just so you can get the hang of it in a less stress and less tense situation. You may want to insert a finger so you have a feel for the way you curve.

Then with one hand spread your lips with your fingers and with your other hand gently press the tampon into your vagina at an angle back until your fingers touch the skin. If you are having trouble getting it in try wiggling it or turning it a little while you are inserting to get it past the lower vaginal muscles. You can also use for lubrication a little k-y on the tip of the tampon or if you can't get that than vaseline or even wet it in your mouth.

Once your fingers holding the tampon are touching your skin than use your other hand to push the applicator tube in to put the tampon itself in place. Then just gently withdraw the applicator.

You change them based on your menstrual flow..how fast they fill. In the early part of your period you may change them every 2h but on lighter days it may be as few as 6h. One way to tell is to check whenever you go to the bathroom for spotting and pull the string a bit for if it feels like should be changed. Whatever you don't leave a tampon in for more than 8 hours and a 6 hour limit may not be a bad idea for you starting out.

Hope this helps. Good luck and have fun :)

You can insert a tampon by unwrapping your tampon and then hold the applicater with your dominant hand. Use your free hand to seperate the lips/labia of the vulva. Grab the finger-grips with your thumb and middle finger. Ease the tampon into your vagina while angling it towards your bottom. Most people don't know this but the vagina actually lies flat and it doesn't go up. Continue angling your tampon and pushing it in towards your tailbone until the finger-grips are right outside of your vagina and the bigger tube is completely inside of you. Then with your index/pointer finger push the skinny tube into the bigger tube which is already inside of you. Once the skinny tube is all the way in then you pull the applicater out with the finger-grips and toss it in the trash. The string will be left hanging outside of your body, so just tuck that into your underwear.

If the applicater doesn't go in all the way and you pop open your tampon then it will be very uncomfortable so make sure you get it in all of the way. You might also have better success by using Playtex SlimFit tampons and using a little bit of lubricant on the applicater to help it slide in. Good luck!

I've been using tampons for almost 30 years but I had problems inserting them when I first tried to use them. I found the trick is to get the angle of insertion right. It's actually lower than you might think. Once you get it, the tampon applicator will slip right in. As for changing them, you should change them according to how quickly they get saturated. On heavier days, I can end up changing them every couple of hours but on lighter days, I can go quite a bit longer. However, it's not recommended you leave them in longer than about 8-10 hours due to the risk of toxic shock syndrome.

Yes, 4-6 hours is correct.

Thats great that you have slim tampons, those are always best. Also, its great if you have plastic applicators, those are always easier to use.

If you got it halfway up, you pretty much understand how it goes. :]
it probably hurt so much to take it out because you were scared, and tensed up alot.
A huge part of taking them out is just being veryyy loose, and relaxing your muscles.

good luck, and have fun cheering at the game :]

a great form of the time, once you are able to sense your tampon, you purely did not placed it in each and each of ways. when I first began using Tampons, I felt it a sprint, yet then, I discovered that i did not push it in each and each of ways. that is advantageous. purely next time flow each and each of ways. :)

4 to 6 hours is right maye more often if you're a heavy flow on your fisrt days. You need to RELAX! It won't hurt if you do so.
