The older ones tend to be the cheapest. Such as Sahara, Riviera, Imperial Palace, and Tropicana.
Edit: MAC and Michael are right. Circus Circus is probably the cheapest. I forgot about it and Stratosphere which is also cheap. However, I'm not sure the Stratosphere should be considered "on the Strip". It's up the road a ways.

There are lots of cheap hotels you can stay ono the strip in Vegas. Try using cheaptickets.com, expedia.com, hotwire.com, hotels.com, etc... Or call the actual hotels. I know Circus Circus is one of the cheapest.
Try looking at their websites. Sometimes they have good rates on certain dates.

Circus Circus is the cheapest on the strip, but it is also one of the most run down and dirty.

Most of them are pretty reasonable from Sunday-Thursday except Belagio and the Venetian. Weekends the prices double at least and you can only book Friday and Saturday night at most. You can;t book one or the other.
We always stay at the Mirage. In fact We will be there from tomorrow for a week.
