They do make OTC products to help cleanse waxy build-up. These may save you money on doctor visits.

Even though they say you shouldn't, I always gently swab my ear with a Q-tip after I shower. No too deep, though.

My daughter who is 9, also had this problem. Her doctor said that her ear wax just happens to be harder than most people's. She recommended that she takes showers rather than baths and to let the warm water into her ear canals. That helps soften the wax. Also to put a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide in each ear then shower. This has helped tremendously! My daughter hasn't had to have her ears irrigated (that's what the doctor calls it) in a year.

I have also heard from several people that the "ear candles" (usually available in health food stores) work very well too.

Best wishes!

Your ear canal is probably curved.

You can try to use baby oil and drop them in your ear, keep the ear pointing to the top and pull your ear back and upward. Let the oil sit for 5-10 minutes and repeat every 3-4 days. Oil may dissolve the wax and prevent more wax to form and build up.

Washing with water will not help.

Sometimes a poor diet can cause this.

Try ear-candling, too.
