Yeah, but be sure to grow it with basil. The basil is so fragrant, that it overpowers the k-9 from happenstance of finding your 'garden'. The colors are close too, so it's not stand out recognizable. Grow other exotic plants from South America and Asia. Should your wee little stash be discovered, you can say it came in the same seed pack as the Columbian Basil. You thought it was a 'varigation" of this exotic plant. You had NO IDEA!!!!

Of course you can grow weed in your backyard for medicinal use. It's easy.
Of course, it's just as easy to go to jail.
Seriously, in order to qualify for medicinal use of cannabis under California law, you will have to be *quite* ill, and doctors will have to certify that cannabis is the only way to treat your symptoms.
These certificates are not just handed out. Since your doctor will be putting their medical license on the line, you can bet that they will exhaust all other legitimate options before even considering such a step.

Federal law prohibits the grow of any form of the hemp plant under the 1937 Marihuana Tax Act. The federal ban is now contained in the 1972 Controlled Substances Act, which considers the species cannabis sativa a controlled substance, without distinguishing between hemp and marijuana or defining the way it is grown or the purpose for which it is used. Federal law always prevails over state law as stated in the US Constitution.
So can you grow it in your backyard, probably yes, can you be prosecuted under federal law for growing it, yes again.
What are your chances for prosecution of California law, none.

Thats a great reason to love Cali tell the feds to go to hell. Really why do I drive the speed limit, and put my kids in car seats until they are 4'9" tall. We should all just ignore the law. Dont change it or get politically active just do whatever makes you happy. IF you like illegals make a sanctuary city. Why do I even worry about the constitution or secret renditions in this country we do whatever we want.

Yep. You can register with the sheriff's department in my county, they give you a nifty card and everything, man. Check out your local county laws to avoid any problems (some places only allow it to be grown indoors or in a greenhouse). The states limit is 6 plants in California, but the county number is usually higher. If the county doesn't have a limit the state limit is the default.

If you follow all the procedural requirements for medical marijuana use, according to California law, and you are growing it based on a valid medical prescription (which is one of the procedural requirements) -- then you cannot be prosecuted under STATE law for your actions.
However, the federal govt is still free to prosecute you under FEDERAL drug laws -- the state has no say in those.

First of all you would need to know the laws in California pertaining to medical marijuana. Secondly, you wouldnt personally be able to grow it for medical use. Your doctor would hafta prescribe it for you and it usually is in pill form. My mom was prescribed it for her MS but as a former marijuana user, she said it didnt do crap lol.

ABSOLUTLY NOT! Why? it is illegal because we live in the land of the "free" my friend, so instead get some liquor, smokes, and a gun, like a real patriot, instead of something as "dangerous" as mary jane.

Ha no way! If it is for medicinal purposes it has to come from an authorized medical proffessional. You know how our government is, they have to be the only ones to be able to profit.

Of course you can, because of your cancerous AIDS glaucoma which has made you blind. Without weed, you could go even blinder.
Medicinal pot you grow yourself... I'm guessing you won't be taking it in pill form. Stoner!
