Hello Miss Maggie! Have you had your first period yet? PMS is when you hormones go a little nuts. You get mean and angry for no reason, and you just can't help it!! For me, it happens 3 days before my period. Just for a few hours. It's weird! Other women experience it longer. Every woman is different, but it's all about those crazy hormones! Hope that cleared it up for you. Great question! You get a star for that one! Bye-Bye! :)

Hi- PMS is Pre-Menstrual Syndrome. It differs in each and every woman. LadyLynn had an excellent explaination. You can take oral meds such as Midol or Pamprin to assist you with the symptoms. I have a few sites below to help you out. It is so much FUN to be a woman @ times. NOT- but, ur hormones can really get out of whack during the time before your period begins. It can be a week or so that this occurs. Good question. You deserve a star. Take care and hope this helped.

Premenstrual Syndrome: PMS is a disorder characterized by a set of hormonal changes that trigger disruptive symptoms in a significant number of women for up to two weeks prior to menstruation. Of the estimated 40 million suffers, more than 5 million require medical treatment for marked mood and behavioral changes. Often symptoms tend to taper off with menstruation and women remain symptom-free until the two weeks or so prior to the next menstrual period. These regularly recurring symptoms from ovulation until menses typify PMS, premenstrual syndrome.
