It's not crystal ball or guesswork - it's basic genetics ☺

To calculate "predicted familiar stature" (the med words for "how tall will the kids be")

Girls: (Dad - 5") + mom / 2
Boys: Dad + (mom + 5") / 2

in your example:

(72" - 5") + 61" / 2
67" + 61" / 2
64" or 5'4"

You could expect normal variation of a couple inches either way. This also assumes that there are no health issues effecting height at any point of development.

Using Meow's example:

(74" - 5") + 60" / 2 = 64.5" or 5' 4 1/2"
74 + (60 + 5) / 2 = 69.5" or 5' 9 1/2"

meow is 64" and her brother is 70" -- how's that for pretty accurate? ☺

It doesn't always come out "in the middle". For a girl for example, if mom and dad are the same height then the daughter may well be shorter than either.

Example
(dad - 5") + mom / 2 where both are 5'8"
(68" - 5") + 68" / 2 = 65.5" or 5" 5 1/2" which is shorter than mom and dad.

It could come out taller too but usually with boys. Assuming a boy child of two parents at 5'8"
dad + (mom + 5") / 2
68" + (68" + 5") / 2 = 70.5" = 5' 10 1/2" which is taller than both parents.

Isn't genetics cool? ♥

No telling! I have a large family. Some of my cousins are taller than both their parents. Some of my cousins are shorter than both their parents. Some are smack between. Yes, it's all genetic, but who's to say she'll wind up with Great-grandma Iris' genes or Uncle Joe's genes?

Usually, you'll be somewhere in between the two. Probably around 5'3" to 5'6"ish. Best of luck!
