In a way, we should all be appreciative of Senator Larry Craig’s post-conviction claim of innocence. At long last we have a member of the United States Senate who has acknowledged the phenomenon of the false guilty plea, if not the pervasiveness of wrongful conviction itself. Or better yet, by insisting he did "nothing wrong" despite violating a statute, Craig may have finally expressed doubt in the laws that lawmakers have rained down on us. Viewed in their worst light, the allegations made against Craig hardly seem to rise to the level of criminal conduct. Yet Craig’s guilty plea to disorderly conduct charges will prevent him from formally appealing the conviction and will likely haunt him for the rest of his life."

Interesting. Craig screws up by making himself his own lawyer. With a fool for a client, Craig cops a plea. Now, you, "_", big time Lib that you are, cheer Craig as a victim of injustice.

So what's your point, someone make him do what he did? Or is he just a fool...?

It's tragic really that a misdemeanor plea of disorderly conduct caused the end of someone's career -- on the criminal scale, it's barely above speeding as an offense.

And it's a state criminal charge -- not federal.

I have no sympathy for the guy. It's good to see a man who used hatred of gays for political gain to be on the receiving end of the suspicion and hate he's fostered. And if he's innocent, even better. The sad truth is though our justice system is broken. These plea deals really violate the spirit of equal justice for all.

This is the Republican way. Make these draconian laws that only others have to follow. Complain when you get caught and scream how unfair the system is? If they want to call this entrapment, then there are quite a few laws they need to adjust. Prostitution, drug deals, gun buys, etc. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Well, in my opinion... it seems to happen to conservative Republicans more than anyone else...
over and over again... we don't even hear about MOST of them... you have to really dig around and research them.

But here's the thing... deep in the heart of every homophobe - they know that homosexuality is not decreasing in response to the legislation... they KNOW that it is increasing.
The goal of the legislation is not to rid the country of homos, it is to serve as a sacrifice to their ideals... to try to remove "gay pride" from view so they never have to deal with their own sexual desires in such an honest light.

It's very psychological and "phobia-like" for them... and very obvious to the public.
