It's real.. but they charge like $3 per for shipping.. (It's still worth it.. ) what really kills it is the number of dvd's you have to buy in the next year... because they have to be regular price which is normally about $25 plus shipping and handling..

I noticed someone else mentioned this already.. I was coming back to add it.. If you are sending your cards back and being responsible.. what will happen is they'll give you a huge deal.. you place an order, and they send duplicate shipments.. but all the info is on the inside of the box, so you HAVE to open it..once you open it, you are responsible for paying to ship the extra back.. and then they will tell you that it took too long and you don't get your money back.. They did it to me twice before.. I haven't ordered again since..

5 Dvds For 49 Cents Each

^I belong to Columbia House and it's legit, but there are different deals and sometimes you have to buy another 5 or more at regular price, which will cost you $19.95 and up plus shipping, handling and tax. Don't forget to read the fine print.

If you want good prices on DVD's check out amazon.com if you spend $25. you don't pay shipping and handling and that can save you a lot of money and depending where you live you might not have to pay tax either. Just make sure the DVD's are from amazon themselves and not another vendor. I hope this helps.

It's legit, but then you have to buy a certain number of full priced dvds before a certain time or they'll charge you full price for the cheapies you bought. As long as you pay attention to the rules, you can get a lot of good movies for really, really cheap.

To add to the earlier response about buying used DVDs off Ebay, go to your local pawn shop. You'd be amazed at how many movies are there for less than $5.

For the most part it's legit, but there a number of DVDs you must by within a year or two, and they are priced higher than most other retailers. The s/h is also on the high side. I've done it once, but I find other ways less of a hassle and more cost effective...

Read the fine print. They way it works with their CDs, is you get a bunch up front, but then you have to buy more at their prices. Columbia House charges more than Amazon. So if you look at the average (add up all the DVDs you have to buy and add up all the $ you'll have to pay for the whole batch) you're probably getting an OK price per DVD, but not a great price.

My advice? Get them used on Ebay. There are probably other used DVD sellers too. Or sign up for Netflix (cheap DVD rental through the mail.) Ask yourself if you're REALLY going to watch all those DVDs again, ha ha.

Probably you need to rent most movies and only buy your favorites.

It`s not a scam, but you have to agree to purchase a certain amount of DVD`s in a certain amount of time. And while that is going on, they`ll also send you cards with a special movie choice that WILL be sent to you IF you don`t RETURN the card saying that you DON`T want that movie. You really have to be on top of that. If you decide to keep the movie, it does NOT count towards your membership agreement, so watch out!
Basically...it`s a pain in the behind.

Music/media houses are legit. But read the whole agreement. Usually it says you must purchase a certain number of cds/dvds/books, whatever at FULL PRICE within a year.
