This is the cost of war. The American people by and large do not understand the urgency of our fighting and winning this war. President Bush does. And whoever succeeds him would be foolish to withdraw before we've put out the fire. Otherwise it will follow us here (more) and a lot more American lives will be lost. This is not Viet Nam II. They just wanted to be left alone to kill and dominate their southern countrymen. This enemy will not be reasoned with. They want us dead, plain and simple. And they will do whatever it takes to accomplish this, even if they die in the process. There is only one way to deal with an enemy like this, and this administration has recognized it. So no, he does not need to be held accountable.

Was Kennedy, Johnson, or Nixon ever held responsible for the lives lost in Vietnam, an equally pointless war?

No, I dont think so, It's his job to make these life/ death decisions and i believe we should be critical but not judgemental, also you cant just point the blame at one person, if NO-ONE in america except for Bush wanted to go to war, i dont think there'd be one.
