these days ads campaigns and articles constantly bombard us,admonishing us to invest in the future usually they tell us to invest in stocks,bonds,real state,mutual funds ect. because we have to plan ahead in oeder to enjoy the future all of those things are worth investing in.but really,is that all there is to life?Do we just accumulate wealth and then die?

No, the idea is to accumulate enough wealth to live well, and retire well, without being a leach on your kids or on the taxpayers. What on Earth is wrong with that?

Unless you are planning to stay in good health, and work until the day you drop dead, you do need some accumulated wealth to make it through retirement.

you left out one important step. You accumulate wealth, then hand it over to the doctors and hospitals, THEN you die, when your money is finally gone.
The doctors are your gatekeeper to wherever your afterlife is.
You can't go to heaven (or hell) until Doc gets all your money.
