So in my basement, there is a ceiling to cover up the wood, plumbing, and whatnot. The problem is that the ceiling doesn't cover the entire area up so there are alot of spaces between the ceiling and wall for spiders to go through. I constantly see spiderwebs everywhere and anytime I see a spider I kill it but there are too many I think. Here is a picture of what kind of spaces between the wall and ceiling I'm talking about:

You can even see parts of a spiderweb in the pic.

My question is how can I seal these spaces up so that spiders and other bugs can't go through them. I thought about just taping it but I figure that wouldn't be enough. Please help!! I hate spiders and they ruin my beautiful basement. HELPPP

This is what I did. I'm a former contractor and have hobbies, so does my wife. I made one side of the basement into a sewing, quilting shop for her and I.
The other side (wall) is my wood-working shop, the same applies here but, both have had plastic 2X4 foot pieces put up for ? who knows. but, I tore them off, cleaned the rafters real good, lots of webs, daddy long legs, "things" you have nightmares about.
I then spray painted the entire area and used Raid on the ceiling. Now, it's nice and white, clean and once in a while I have to spray but, you have to simply keep it clean.

they have this stuff called "foam" sealant. that isn't the exact name of the product. but all you have to do is ask at a Lowe's or Home Depot, tell them you want spray "foam" sealer, and they will take you right to it...(it's possibly called "great stuff" been a while since I have used it)
WEAR DISPOSABLE GLOVES! around a buck a pair.
It is a typical spray can, with a tube you put on the nozzle so you can direct it where ever needed. Careful when spraying, it expands!! I mean expands!! Looking at your picture, it would be the perfect product to seal that space. Once it sets, you can trim it with an ordinary razor blade to cut it flush to your ceiling tiles.....good luck
