When i went to the doc on Tuesday he informed me that i was dehydrated....well i hate to drink lots of water cause it makes me feel even more bloated!! Well he told me that if i continue to not drink enough water that when i get farther along it could put me into early labor!!!! I had no clue that the reason i was having cramps was because of not drinking enough water!!!

Did anyone one else NOT know about this?? Lets just say water is now my new best friend!!!

Yes dehydration is the #1 cause of preterm labor, especially in the summertime. You need to make sure you are alteast drinking the eight 8 oz glasses a day. I ended up with IV's with both pregnancies to get rehydrated and I was drinking that much water it was just coming back up with the morning sickness.

I had some funky cramping about 2 weeks ago. I called my doc the next day, and she said the same thing. But i don't know how that's possible because i tend to drink so much water i can't even eat dinner cause i'm full off of it. But i guess they know what they are talking about. I thought it was braxton hicks, but they said at 22 weeks that's not good, or should not be happening.

Hi, if you can't stand water cuz i cant either, try gatorade.
If you let it get really bad the cramps are gonna hurt really bad trust me, i had to go to the emergency room and they had me stay there for 7 hours on IVs for dehydration, which trigger preterm contractions when i was only 21 weeks, so the doctor said gatorade is a safe alternative to water, not that you should stop drinking water, now at 40 weeks i wish I had the contractions now, to get labor up and running.
best of luck

I knew this only because I vomitted persistently through out my pregnancy starting at around 8 weeks; so when I talked to the nurse about it she told me to stay hydrated because if I lost too many fluids from vomitting I could miscarry--which is just as worrisome as preterm labor. Also, it makes sense because the baby essentially lives in water.

MOST people don't know how important it is to stay hydrated. Did You know that one of the reasons WHY Obesity is running rampant in this Country- is that people are drinking MORE Sodas, & LESS water?! Water is an "aquired taste"- & a LOT of people are losing it... :(

HumaNS are almost 50% percent water and now you are needing to be twice that much because of your person in your sttomach. Don't drink or bathe in tap water though, that's how the goverment gets you!

If you don't like drinking water you can always drink juice or milk, maybe something like crystal light, or flavored water. It's all liqud and will all hydreate you. You can even try eating food high in water (watermelon, yum!)

Yup. I knew that. Try decreasing your salt intake if you're feeling too bloated. Unfortunately being bloated is part of being pregnant.
