i along with others were taught that the(rather infinitely large)
universe that ur question belongs,is virtually "empty" and it
is also extremly hostile to life.
Any of these properties,or both,is not only a figment of our
imagination-and we'd surely be "no where"without that!-but
also the result of countless years effort in pure thought and
applied thought(technology,which includes writing whereby
the above two properties can be criticised, see below).
And i guess we may be correct to say that because of what
has been "discovered",above,at first sight doesnt amount to
much.
That could be due to the fact that, the universe is empty and
also hostile-to-life,could ,rather instantly,be found to be false
-hence,i suppose, the various expeditions into Space and
other planets to try to find other living life-forms.
But,our theories here on earth are also incorporated into the
words and projections we have for our universe. What i mean is that,as a further "way forward"in the(true) description of the
universe,we might say that,for instance(and a very modern
instance too)it is predominently a Darwinian Universe;
In that only some life forms are truely successful; And also,
that the REMAINDER of the species(the individuals that are
not the "successful" ones)are the industrial or workers who
use their energy to maintain-the-system.
And the whole(universe-al)system is set up on a crude system of "sayings"(i here include the law)which holds
together numbers of individuals in peace(between wars
for example).
A bit crude, from me,i know. But the crucial thing to note is
that we can and i think should, now move toward such a
tentative description not just of our world but also of our
universe. For it is like this, currently, and one day we may
even verify and conclude that (a part of )the universe in which
we all still live, was neither so empty and hostile as our
neo-darwinian teachers taught us that it was(!)
And should man find true evidence of that, then any one man
or woman, even a group, would be liable to further expand our (total and universal)knowledgeso that we could all share
in a new understanding, for the past as well as for the future.

Whether it is infinity in time or infinity in space, the fact is self-evident:

Think of any time in the past, however remote, and ask yourself ' and before that?', or of any time in the future, however far off, and ask yourself 'and after that?'.
The past can have no beginning, nor can the future have any end, for what would lie beyond both?

The same as to infinity in space: think of any limit, any limit whatsoever, the edge of the (this) galaxy, of this universe, of THAT which contains the universe and ask yourself 'what lies beyond it?'

There can be no limit to that SPACE which is both within and without, both pervades and envelopes everything; it is the same SPACE everywhere . What would lie beyond it? What CAN lie beyond it ? For, if you say 'nothing' , that 'nothing' would still lie inside that infinite SPACE. How can there be anything, even a ' region containing nothing', outside of that which is limitless? SPACE is the Infinite Nothingness containing everything, how can there be a 'nothing' beyond that Nothing which is limitless, which is Limitlessness itself?

Why would it stop?

Well, I mean, some things just don't stop. Like numbers.

And you only need one thing to be infinity for it to be real.

Things like the universe, on the other hand, well, no one really know that it goes on for infinity. It might very well not. It's just a theory that it does, which will continue to be a theory, unless a better theory is brought up in the scientific community or it's proven otherwise.

I don't know about fact exactly, but infinity is just a system that will continually grow bigger. I believe black holes are infinitely dense. I think space is infinitely expanding. What really gets me is things without a beginning.

Infinity possible does not exist, at least, not an actual quantitative infinite.

Infinity, eternity, and god can only exist as concepts. They cannot be proved. I am curious to see your proof.

because infinite has to exist to carry the finite.
