I wanted to let everyone know that I work for Hospice, and not one person on their deathbed will say God isn't real. Even those that didn't believe in Him change their minds.

The reason this is under parenting is because people teach their kids religion, and others call it lying to their kids.

Well for me christanity is not a religion. Its a life style. It is a guideline to how I should live my life. I teach my children the same guidelines. It is not a myth nor a lie. I dont believe it is something created to help me cope. It is my life blood. You see, God has done so many things in my life that humans cant explain that I would be absolutely crazy to deny him. Now I know there are some who will say it is fate or coincidences but for me its God and God alone.

I'm not sure about this. I think that there is something bigger than us, but I'm not sure that it's the same thing as described in the bible, which I don't believe is true. I think that we are all a part of something bigger, and we are put on this earth for whatever reason- to help, to learn something, etc. I think that when we have fulfilled our "purpose", then we are free to go back to wherever we were before we had bodies, and either are reincarnated because we still have more to do on earth, or because we didn't accomplish whatever we were sent to do.
I think that our society has so much "God" stuff in it that we don't even realize how it creeps into our minds. I'm not trying to be ugly, but have any of the people that you have witnessed on their deathbeds been Buddhists or anything? Did they suddenly find "God"?
I really do appreciate what you do at your job. I know it's tough, and you are very special for helping people make the transition. Thank you.

Whether Christian or of any other religion, when one is faced with death one will reach out to their own concept of God.

Having worked with older people, I know that the will to live is the strongest urge we have and we all reach out to a higher power.

Myself, when in extremis in an ICU ward on life support, I cried out to the God of my youth. I had previously convinced myself that there was no god.

I don't call any religion the truth or a lie.

All religions are myths created by mankind for their own sanity.

Anyone who calls a particular religion, "THE TRUTH", deceives him/herself and all those around.

Anyone who calls religions "A LIE", dishonors the generations who have used that set of myths to aid them through life.
