I can not get an appointment at the military facility. Have tried new appt for past year but too many transfers here and now expecting 10,000 more.
Next year I will be able to seek alternative medical care.
For now I would like to try anything just to get by.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome :-
This is also known as the 'post viral syndrome' or 'myalgic enchphalomylitis;. This is a syndrome in which person suffering from an acute illness never seems to recover fully from it. Even after the acute illness is over, the patient does not feel well and complains of malaise, fatigue, myalgia, headache, and exhaustion.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - CAUSE

Not known specifically. Usually occurs after an acute viral illness.
Enteroviruses are implicated.
Often occurs after mononucleosis.
Overexertion (mental or physical) during an acute illness can predispose to it.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - MECHANISM - WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS?

Not known so far.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

The most pronounced symptom is 'fatigue'. the person always feels very tired, sometimes so much that even going from one room to other may seem like a chore.
Myalgia or body ache
General malaise and headache
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - HOW DIAGNOSIS IS MADE?

Diagnosis is usually done clinically.
There is no specific test but in some cases antibodies to Coxsackie-B or Epstein-Barr viruses may be present.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - COMPLICATIONS

Since the complaint is chronic in nature, depression, work inefficiency can occur.
Many patients become chronically disabled.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - WHAT TO DIFFERENTIATE FROM?

Acute viral illness is often followed by a week or two of weakness and sleepiness. This should not cause unnecessary worry.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - HOMEOPATHIC Medicines & TREATMENT
Homeopathy is the only form of treatment that I have seen working in this condition. But even with homeopathic drugs it may take a few months to resolve this condition fully. But considering that there is no conventional treatment and most people suffer for years, a few months may be a very short period.

Some of the medicines that I have found of use in this condition are carbo-veg, china, mygale-l, sarcolactic acid, natrum-sal etc.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - CONVENTIONAL TREATMENT

No specific treatment is available
A few individuals partially respond to anti-depressant medication
WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?

Deep breathing and walking in fresh air can increase the energy levels.
A well balanced nutritious diet with ample fluids should be taken.
Avoid mental and physical exertion during an acute illness. Try to take proper rest. DO NOT ' pop-a-pill and go-to work' if you are not feeling very well.

Could be fibromyalgia. there are lots of natural remedies out there if you can afford them. I haven't had much luck with natural remedies, so my Dr. has me on Tramadol, Elavil, Clonopin, and Lortab. The Tramadol, is actually very addicting, however that has only been recently discovered. Of course the Lortab and Clonpin can be addicting if taken in excess. I take mine only as instructed by my Dr. which is 2 x per day, as needed.

There is a Website, listed below that is very helpful in differentiating between fibro, and chronic fatigue syndrome. They are often related. This website also is very up on the natural remedies you are looking for, and may be able to help you. I wish there was one in my local area, because I would love to have an evaluation done. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1991, and am still functioning, and working.

Don't give up and let it take over your life, that is what puts people on disability. I just work through the pain and fatigue, with a little help from my meds, and do pretty well.

Fatigue is when there is a lack of glycogen in the muscles. Glycogen is stored glucose in the muscles and when the body does not have glucose to burn to produce energy, Glycogen is used and lactic acid is stored in the muscles in its place. Tiredness also signals the body to produce serotonin which makes your muscles feel the need to rest and relax.

You mentioned 'military facility'? which makes me think that perhaps you are a soldier or military personnel who has to do a lot of strenuous activity. Then you also be experiencing a lot of fatigue especially if you are not taking adequate nutrition or are not sleeping enough. A lack of sleep too makes us feel tired throughout the day as our body needs the proper rest to recharge itself.

The fatigue could also be the reason of low vitamins and minerals in the body. In case you feel very tired or lazy some day, multivitamins could help.

Fatigue is also caused by anemia. As the blood fails to supply oxygen to the tissues it results in weakness or fatigue. Multivitamins certainly will help.

Last but not the least, have you had your thyroid checked? Low levels of thyroid hormones - thyroxine - leads to fatigue and weakness.
Thyroid hormones help your body use energy. In absence of thyroxine, you experience an inability to concentrate, muscle soreness, slower heart rate, weight gain, constipation and feel cold.

I have chronic fatigue, and I got to an holistic medical gp, and she is marvellous, see if you can find one, mine was caused by alamgan fillings in my teeth, so if you have them, I suggest you get them removed as soon as you can, it is very hard to live with chronic fatigue, at least now dr's listen.

A women's energy multivitamin every day might perhaps help a bit. Sounds like you might perhaps be taking that already.

Perhaps a Yahoo search for cfs (OR "chronic fatigue syndrome") + "natural remedies" may be able to help.
