You can purchase a harness. and attach it to a leash (A long one)!! Years ago ppl used to put holes in their shells...I would never do this as I find that cruel and inhumane!!!

I can't believe ppl are saying no. I harness my adult and go out with her in the yard....She basks I sunbathe.......and she is 8 years old!!! She is happy outside..her head goes up and investigates what is happening around her. She loves it outside and this way I can control her without worrying about predators!!

Now my 2 young ones do not like to be taken out of their habitat...my other young loves to be held, but never goes outside!! Just my adult one goes outside with me....I swear she should have been born a dog..lol

Never leave him/her unattended/really depends on the turtles personality I guess!! I must have one happy adult turtle............

Turtles are aquatic and should be left in their tank as taking them out usually stresses them out. They should have everything they need in their tank (ten gallons per inch of shell, submersible water heater, filter, dock, uvb light, heat light, and two light fixtures). If taking them outside make sure the yard doesn't have pesticides in it and just pay close attention.

If you wanna take them for a walk, a leash isn't necessary and may be uncomfortable. If you wanna attach them to a tree so they can't run away, well that's not a good idea. Predators like large birds will attack the defenseless turtle and they should never be left unattended. You might wanna check out http://www.redearslider.com for some more help. Good luck.

Handling turtle too much isn't really a bad thing for turtles, as long as they are use with it. Some fun things you can actually do is get a small stick some string and food. Attach the food to the string then attach the string to the stick. But NEVER FEED THEM OUT OF THE WATER.

No. Turtles dislike being handled or exposed to new territories. Leave it in the tank- but make the tank as nice for it as possible.

Only if you walk really slow.
Or want to kill your turtle.
Or want to be embarrassed.
