Someone who is just trying to get attention or voice an opinion, while being disrespectful of other viewpoints. Its not appropriate on this forum because its a Q&A forum. You ask questions to get answers from different perspectives, you are not trying to win an argument.

The term originated long ago on internet news groups -- it refers to someone who went trolling (as in fishing) for comments, generally as a way to start an argument (called 'flaming').
Over time, the practice of trolling merged with the concept of the troll under the bridge -- someone nasty and mean that just gets in your way and makes travel difficult.
In modern parlance, it refers to someone who has no purpose other than to cause problems and dissention -- and here, someone who only posts rants aimed at attacking others, without any attempt to engage in meaningful dialogue or (censors forbid) actually as a question.

An internet troll is a poster/netizen who engages in disruptive arguementation often utilizing inexplicable rationale or otherwize uncontrolled/controlled disinformation to reek confusion/misunderstanding. There are levels of trolls and unique interesting trolls. Most often they don't mean well as they disagree with everything and often become quite irritating.

A troll is someone who has nothing better to say other than insult, post useless, rants, etc...you know..like the trolls that live under the bridge...they are miserable and want to share to others, unfortunately.

Someone who never learned to leave the playground tactics of elementary school behind.
Most of us lose them in high school. Some wait to lose them in college after realizing why people keep shaking their heads and walking away for several years.
Some never figure it out. They think they are somehow "winning" because the can annoy, call people names, spread unfounded rumors, treat them as "guilty until proved innocent," etc. They want to get a rise out of people, like that annoying kid who always says something disgusting at lunch, then grows up and wonders why he can't keep a job, and everyone is "down on him".
Help them if you can. Some of them grow up here. I've helped a few do that. Some have cursed me and left as well.
Either way, its a better place for the effort.

A "troll" is an Online troublemaker...-Someone out to cause mischief by "baiting" people & making them mad. Trolls are best- ignored (& if enough here DO- maybe they'll go over to Google & give THEM a hard time! :) ).

A troll is simply anyone who doesn't fit the standards of what the beautful people say is normal. That's probably about 98% of all of us.
