i mean;Is our/your school education the same as the
maintenance of the buildings that we live-in(or are in now).
That is,realistically-few if any of us are seriously interested
in whether any maintenance work, on the said building,is
correct or even worthwhile!
So,is there a similar thing going-on in schools up and down
this country; vis-a-vis the state of education now?

i dont think so, i think many care about education, and are looking for ways to improve it. The new generation of educators are learning about the different styles of learning individuals can have, and approaches that work best for each style. i think this will be a great benefit in the future,
and while our education system does need improvement, we have to keep in mind that a larger percentage of children are educated today then in the past, and a larger percentage of American children are educated then in some of the other major countries. From pre-school threw college, the opportunity for education is there, no matter what income or background a child comes from. We have to focus on getting the child to want that education, to want to take advantage of what is offered, and that problem, the lack of interest or appreciation, goes way beyond just the education system,
