If you mean that the only difference would be the fact that it was a democrat and not a republican, all other things being equal, then no, I would not support him either.
Do you honestly believe that the only reason people have negative feelings about Bush is because he is a republican? That has got to be one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard. If it was only democrats that had issue with Bush, then why is his approval rating only in the high 20 to low 30%?
You can't really think that the nation is 70-80% democrats!
And FYI... it's not the democrats that go on witch hunts trying to find fault with any republican..... the republicans are the party that stoops that low.

No, it's got nothing to do with that at all. I don't care one way or another. Actually, I think the whole party system (for the reason you allege) is fundamentally flawed.
However, what I have to reproach to Bush (And it's not hatred - opposition does not have to be hatred. Actually opposition is healthy in a healthy democracy) is that he mislead people and the congress about this war, took undue liberties in his office and introduced more secrecy in government than any other before him. Plus, his administration is just plain corrupt; it is an administration whose aim it is to support certain interests (corporate, narrow political) at the expense of everything else.
I would have said the same if he had performed these action under the banner of the Democratic party. To me, that has nothing to do with it.

Simply stated Bush thinks that no one has a right to question him or his decisions!A democrat president would have SERIOUSLY pursued a diplomatic solution.A democrat president would have used invasion as a last resort as this president PROMISED he would.Yet when he got the authority...he then made it impossible for any diplomatic solution by ordering the UN inspectors out before they could complete their inspections! So if a democratic president had done the same thing Bush did I wouldn't support him(or her).

No...not if this war was run like this. I don't support bad leadership from either party. I'd be voting independent if the democrat was as bad as Bush. I can't consciously vote for most republicans i find many of their policies far away from my views on life and government.

I have been a life long liberal Democrat.
I have had a computer since 2001.
If I had a computer in 1993 and forums like Y/A had existed then I would have been screaming about Clinton and NAFTA and the WTO and his expansions of the FISA laws just as I am protesting GW Bush!!!
Absolutely!

"I bet I am." What are you, five?
First of all, no Democrat would have handled this mess the way Bush has.
But putting aside all logic and reason and allowing the assumption that he or she would... if the circumstances were exactly the same, NO, he or she would NOT have my support. This war is crap, and Bush is a crappy President.
I don't hate him - I, like other reasonable people, save "hate" for situations where it is merited. But he's a crappy President who hasn't got the first clue how to do the job. He's screwed up this country, and I just hope whomever wins the next election can fix it.
So there's your answer.

If it were a Democrat in office, we would not be in this mess. Heck, most Republicans wouldn't have gotten us into this mess. Bush Sr wouldn't have done it. Reagan wouldn't have done it. Nixon wouldn't have done it.
All of these other presidents, for better or worse, were smart enough to understand that the REAL war, the NECESSARY war, was in Afghanistan, not Iraq.

I don't care what Party they are with, I draw conclusions to situations based on their actions, common sense and do not categorize based on Political Party.
But before you go feeling like the Democrats have done no wrong, I think you should spend some time doing your research.

Um, no president I support would have started this outrageous, disgusting war based on lies.
Do you really not understand that? I've always wondered why you guys support Bush no matter what.
No, dear, thinking people (democrats) don't support the democratic president no matter what. In fact, if you start to learn something about american politics - please do - you'll learn that a historical problem for the american left is that they cannot do this lock-step, my guy-right-or-wrong baloney.
No, we insist on standards, we actually have values. Do you even comprehend this?
You support a man who has signed executive orders giving himself the right to take over every level and branch of govt in this country - google it, dear - and a man who has declared he has the right to name any american an enemy combatant and jail them indefinitely without trial.
WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU SUPPORT THIS? What kind of citizen are you???????? (Not one that's right on much, tho definitely to the right... a woman who loves the fascist boot on her face...)

Don't bet your house. Just because you apparently reduce everything to political terms doesn't mean that everyone else does. My problems with Bush have to do with his policies, not his political party.
