I trust India much more than I would ever trust China making my things. India has an appreciation of individual accomplishment while Chinese seem to only think about how much money they can make regardless of how they get it. Whether it comes by adding poison to fabricate protein content of blatant copyright infringement. At least India has pride. The world will probably never be able to return from outsourcing, but we could at least outsource to countries that actually care about their citizens and have some pride for their own accomplishments instead of looking for handouts and playing the victim card. India was colonized much, much longer than China and don't complain at all compared to the latter. Vietnam ended their war with the US 30 years ago and still hold less animosity than Chinese toward Japan even though they fought over 60 years ago. What do you think? Is it finally time to care about where we have our products made instead of going for the cheapest available?

Miss Chang - I'm sorry to inform you, but India isn't nor ever has been in Africa. Nice try though. I'm sure all the Africans are thrilled to know you hate their products. I'm sure they're glad you like their oil though

I agree. Indians are nice people in general and they care about people. Chinese are selfish and they only care about fellow Chinese or money.

If you're conscious of from where you're buying your goods, then it should really--pretty much exclusively be your own country, or a country you favor. Otherwise, you go with the best deal. I think China's regulations are too lax--too much lead winds up here. I haven't read much on Mexico--but I don't trust the quality of their craftsmanship either. I try to stay with either US, Japan, or South Korea.

Okay, let's not start blaming different ethnicities for making shotty products.

True, recently there has been a large amounts of recalls of Chinese-made products. However, these incidents do not designate the Chinese as selfish people who are only out there to make money. True, some of them are, however what about all the other countries? I believe Denmark is the leader in the world for producing shotty candy. And India and Mexico are the world leaders in tainted and/or shotty exports. Look it up if you don't believe me. Now, from personal experience, the Chinese are selfish, but that's mainly the government's fault. There are way too many people in China for the government to control effectively (about 6 times as much as the US). Sure piracy is rampant in China, but same thing with India and Russia. Again, I know this from personal experience. So all in all, every country has issues regarding shotty products because countries are competing against each other for money. People demand cheaper quotes but with prices of natural resoruces rising, it is a paradox that leads to many unfortuanate products. And even in the US, what about those CA recalls of spinich and whatnot. Just face the facts. These problems occur in all countries regardless of the people there.

I've been to mainland China. I spent over two weeks there, and it was an eye-opening experience. The Chinese are a warm, friendly people. They are hardworking and many speak at least some English. Japanese tourists are quite welcome in China and many "Japanese" brands are actually manufactured there. Your uninformed depiction of the Chinese is flawed and reeks of sinophobic stereotypes.

Chinese industries can produce superior quality goods or lower-cost versions of the very same item, hence the misconception about China producing inferior quality products. If western retailers want cheap products to sell at grossly-inflated prices to American consumers, Chinese factories will happily oblige. However, many top-quality lines are also manufactured in China. You get what you pay for.

I've seen plenty of inferior merchandise from India. I have a bath mat made in India that bears a tag with the words, "FLAMMABLE. FAILS U.S. DEPT. OF COMMERCE STANDARD FF2-70 . . ." 'Nuff said.

One powerful answer to this dilemma is for each consumer to expect and demand good quality and refuse to accept less, to the point of doing without if necessary. What objects are each person compelled to buy in order to live? Must those objects come from somewhere else? There is power in the CAPACITY to do without; let's make it ourselves. In our society, presumably, those who profit at all levels through supplying consumers with what they demand should have the headaches of quality control (i.e. where it comes from.) If we don't want crap, they can't sell it. It's up to individual Americans to "protect " themselves through personal vigilance (being informed) and the free market.

No, I'd rather buy made in China.

China is better regulated. When CEOs screw up over there, they get executed.

India is in chaos. Yea, they're a "democracy," but if you ever go there you will see that the entire country is in a constant state of chaos.

China is much better regulated and governed. They may at times be overly regulated, but that's still better than what's happening in India.

That's why manufacturers don't go to India, because the population is not skilled and not organized enough. Their infrastructure sucks too.

I will never buy anything from either China or India. While China is not up to its mark yet, I don't find Indian products too impressive either. I still prefer products from big comporations.

Sorry to disappoint you mate.
