London had no theaters by 1575. No building was designed for the acting of plays. But in Italy, by 1560, the Commedia dell'Arte troupes came into being. They perform lively improvisational playlets across Europe for centuries. Commedia continued to florish even until the 16th century. By the 17th century, however, the genre of Commedia dell'Arte had lost public interest and died out.
