I do not qualify for welfare in OR but I surely cannot afford an attorney. I am 56 so I don't think old enough for senior assistance, but I know when I got my divorce in 1984 and was broke, I called the state and they sent me to an attorney that would work with people who had very littlemoney How do I do that ? in Oregon? I have not committed any crime, I am as white as snow but I have neighbors driving me crazy and they are sociopaths as far as I can tell, so I need to start taking legal action

There should be a legal Aid in the state. Check the yellow pages or call the state consumer question line to get the info. Legal Aid helps those who don't have much money for legal affairs. Good luck

Hi Wendy,
It sounds like the problem you're having is with your neighbors. If you have already tried resolving the problem by talking to them, you may want to contact your city or county to see if they offer dispute resolution services, which involves a mediator. This could help to resolve the problem at little to no cost.

You can also try contacting the Oregon State Bar http://www.osbar.org/public/ris/LowCostLegalHelp/LegalAid.html if you don't get anywhere contacting your city or county.

Good luck.

You need to go to a senior citizen center and ask for legal referral. They can referr you to low-cost (based on income) or 'free' legal counsel. Or, many libraries and/or city halls have groups that meet at specific times of the month for just this purpose. I know you're only 56 but, I'd try the senior citizen center first.
