not sure what questions to ask or test to request.Fast approaching mature gestational age and don't have time to be blown off! If I don't go to my appointment with an idea of how I would like to proceed I may be given the "It will happen when it happens" speech.I'm lucky to be near a major hospital with a fertility clinic, but I have to get past the Doc at the clinic on my base first. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

If you've been charting your BBT then take your charts with you, even if your appt is a ways off, you can chart for a little while now.
Also, take a list of your last 12 cycles, or however many you have, and on what dates you had intercourse, if you have this info.
You should be up front about everything and ask about having your partner's sperm tested--OB/Gyn's usually order the test.
If they try to blow you off, simply say, I've been trying for a year, would you at least consider ordering some basic tests? Don't go in and ask for specific tests, at least not yet, the doc may feel threatened.

I know how you feel. I had to be referred to my RE by my OB/GYN. Not sure if you will need a referral though. I can tell you about my experience and the tests they have ordered for me. The first visit was an initial consultation where I took my charts and the dates of my periods. He ordered a series of blood tests on CD3(checking for lots of things like estrogen, FSH), blood tests on CD21(checking for progesterone), a semen analysis for DH, a pelvic ultrasound for me, and an HSG which is an xray where they inject you with dye so they can make sure your tubes arent blocked. So far everything looks good not sure why I am not pregnant yet though. Good luck!
