Since you don't allow e-mail, I have to respond to you this way. The truth is, I don't hate anime. In fact, I find most of it quite beautifully animated and well written. There is a huge difference between me, a cartoon geek, and you, an anime geek. CARTOON GEEKS HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR ABOUT THEIR HOBBY! I find that a lot of anime geeks are lacking in this. I think Tex Avery has warped the brains of all of us cartoon geeks, we look at the world and ourselves in a very humorous and self-deprecating light. Unfortunately, a lot of anime geeks take Japanimation way too seriously. Some of you folks need to lighten up, learn how to take a joke and learn how to laugh at yourselves and your hobby.
Now, if you will excuse me...I have a portrait of Joe Barbera to lick...plus I'm in the middle of building that Barney Rubble shrine.

Keep in mind I'm saying a lot of you take it too seriously, not ALL of you anime geeks are like this, some of you, I have noticed, are pretty swell people.

Otaku in Need: I poke fun at anime all the time, I don't usually make fun of the people who like it. I wouldn't call someone immature for liking it...I'm an adult who watches cartoons, I have no room to talk. It just seems like when I poke fun at anime, a lot of anime people on here take it very personally and seem to think that I'm making fun of them. I do have to laugh at the people who say the character design is realistic, I think it's funny because most anime characters have really huge eyes and their mouths go from tiny to covering their entire face in a split second...and why are there so many close-ups of the eyes? Why do anime characters sweat and shake so much? See, I'm making fun of anime, not you as a person. Some folks on here can't see the difference. I think it's great that you like it. Keep watching!

avancamp: Exactly my point. Instead of getting angry, grow a sense of humor and laugh it off. Learn how to take a joke.

I don't really care bout Hanna Barbera saying all these things. Sometimes he even says amusing and true things about anime, and I don't believe I have ever seen a comment where he has gone too far.

And even if he (or someone else for that matter) goes too far, who cares? I enjoy anime, I could really care less if most people don't share my enjoyment.

And if some random person on the internet I don't even know starts saying, "Teh anime sux! Why do you watch it loser!?!" I don't find any reason to get upset and I find no point to answer back with a passionate answer trying to correct them. Usually they're just trolls anyway looking for fun at others expence. So I usually just laugh, and either make a jovial comment back or don't even bother with it and head on to the next question.

Hanna Barbera is right, though. Most people here when they see an insult to anime appear take it personally. They take it way to seriously- much more than I do, and I've seen more anime than 98% of the people on here...

Sorry, but I do not find your post humorous at all. Your answers are only meant to cause unnecessary anger towards anime fans which includes myself. Personally, I am not an anime geek as you put it. I am a fan of anime and manga and ALSO cartoons. I do not put down any animation genre nor their fans. What is the point of doing that?

As for making fun of the way the Japanese draw their characters (big eyes as you put it), that is their way of doing things. If you look at American comics and cartoons, I can take bits and pieces of their art and say the same thing "Superman, Spiderman, Batman all have the same build and why are they all white?"

I really like what you posted here, even though it's not a question. Still you have to forgive us if we may seem too obsessed/serious with our anime. It's just that there are many of us who have to put up with bullies who ridicule anime in this category. They keep telling us we're immature and that we're freaks who don't have a life.

Personally, I have no problem if you like Hanna-Barbera cartoons. I respect other people's hobby.

Edit: Here's an example of someone being directly rude to anime lovers.

Hey I love Anime, BUT I understand what you are saying. People lets lighten up are we going to bicker over who likes what drawing of what!?! ITS ALL ART, MEANT TO BE ENJOYED... NOT FIGHT (ARGUE) OVER. So Can't we all just get along and enjoy this beautiful creation that bring so much pleasure to so many?? Duh,"Cartoons" or "Anime" their both just entertainment.
