Peace of mind. If you don't have it, no matter what else you have, you will not be happy. Lady Diana's example springs to mind - may be because there is so much of brouhaha over her 10th anniversary. She had everything one can ask for, yet was she happy? If you don't have that inner peace, that sense of lasting fulfillment, you can't be happy.

As I am more inclined to religions & spirituality, I would reply this question in the same ideology. Excuse me, if u don't like that.
No body gets everything he wants, b coz, he always need more & more. Desires are the reasons for being unhappy.
e.g. If u desire to eat maxican dishes, the best italian food would serve no purpose.
Be in harmony with nature is another way to be happy. Animals & vegetation have not changed. Mango has never asked to be salty for a change. Tiger has never asked for beach resort. It is only humans who get pleasure in defying nature. This mostly brings unhappiness.
To sum up, I derive peace of mind or happiness from enjoying whatever I have and compromise with situation.

Whatever "happy" is, ha ha. Of course we humans are always confusing wants and needs. At a minimum I need air, water, food, and shelter. What I want I probably will not receive in this life. So what I seek is peace of mind independent of people, places, and things. Am getting closer the older I get, but its hard work. And a real uphill climb.

A true relationship with God! When I am close to God, all other things seem to just fall into place. Even the hardest of trials as I feel Him near me!

Without conversing (prayer) with God, I am not sure how I would handle things as I am very human and want to react and act out of my emotions. Instead, I have found much wisdom in talking with God before I react. This has made many around me, much happier!

His presence, in my life is a great source of happiness to me.

I really need for my house to be in good repair and I need for my yard man to get his fanny out of the pokey so he can get my yard back in shape.

I would be very happy indeed if I had a screened gazebo big enough for a futon and wired for lamps and maybe a TV.

1) A steady job - respect from your fellow pros as a reliable jack of the trade.

2) Strong relationship - someone to love and someone to love you. Friends who really care.

3) Hobbies and leisure activities - sports, music, gardening, whatever you fancy most to keep you busy.

Inner peace. You need to like yourself. You need to realize that happiness does not come in material forms.
