Is it ok to put a big bore exhaust on an automatic car??

I just recently bought a Honda Prelude 92, and I wanted to put a big bore exhaust on it. It's an auto and one of my mates said that it's gay to put a big bore exhaust on auto.

So if I do install a big bore exhaust on my car will I look like a complete dick cuz it's not a manual??!!

If what you mean by big bore exhaust is just a performance cat back exhuast with larger than stock pipes, then yes you can do it, yes it will look good. It will sound pretty good, but just kind of wierd because auto's do not shift like manuals, so the sound will be different and people will be able to tell you have an automatic.

Cacti Joe is and idiot! On your basic everyday car, a manual transmission will beat an automatic transmission on the same vehicle every time, the only time it wont is if the driver sucks.... I know what you are talking about with Formula 1 racing, but I believe most of those cars have DSG trannys with 2 clutches for seemless shifting, not at all the same as your normal paddle shifters on most modern cars. On newer passenger vehicles, the auto/manual, slapshift, tiptronic whatever you want to call it, is slower than the regular manual transmission. As is a regular auto transmission slower than its regular manual counterpart. Do some research.

You can't go bigger than the diameter of the enhaust manifold. Legally you can't go bigger than the diameter of the catalytic convertor pipe.

If you find an aftermaket cat convertor that will fit the manifold pipe you might add some diameter to the pipe(s).

Get a custom stainless steel exhaust header and run the pipes right through the hood if you want to get crazy with it.

Why would making a change to the exhaust make a car "gay"? Does your friend think a stick shift has some kind of advantage over an auto? Sticks don't make money in racing whtehr it's Top Fuel or Formula One. An auto can out perform a stick any day of the week since sticks waste precious seconds while the driver fumbles through the gear and stomps the clutch pedal.

Sounds like your friend is a homophobic.
