I'm on my last week of my birth control pills (yaz), which i'm on because the doctor's THINK i have over active hormones. Two weeks ago I got strep throat and my doctor gave me Avelox to treat it. About 2 hours after I took my first pill (avelox) I got really horrible cramps and started bleeding..a period? I dont know. Along with the bleeding and cramps I got a yellow-brown jelley like substance come out but only twice. I am STILL bleeding and have the horrible cramps. If this is a period then it is the second one this month and I dont know why its lasted two weeks instead of the normal 5days. I'm really worried and would like to know whats going on. Did the avelox counter act my birth control? Should I start over with a new pack of yaz? Please help. Thanks.

Yes, antibiotics can interact with the pill. I would recommend getting in touch with your doctor as well to see what they want you to do next.
