What does it mean "Badass"?

Hello i'm from mexico. i'm learning english and i'd like to know what does this word mean?.

It means 'basically' Super Awesome. Like really hardcore and somebody who will do something that other people are scared to do.

The answer depends on context as much as anything. If a Marine Sergent-Major looks down the ready-line at your platoon and says, "Positively bad-***!!", he's being very complimentary, and telling you that you look rough, tough, ready and able to KICK some A**. At othertimes it is very derogatory. Just as in colloquial Mexican, where you can call someone "Chingaso", and, depending on the situation, either be just using a phrase of rough familiarity, or giving a gross insult bordering on an open invitation to fight.

Although badass is considered a compliment to some it isn't exactly something you'd say to your parents. Haha. I always took it to mean, cool, tough, someone others want to be like. Someone who goes their own way and it doesn't matter to them what others may think. Someone who is their own individual.

First of all, it is two words "bad a**"! And, in most company it is considered vulgar or rude.
