I think alot of people retire in FL because the cost of living is cheap and the weather is warm or hot year round. Also theres alot of other retired people there that might be good company for a newly retired person. As far as best areas, I think its pretty spread out all over the state.

Depends on where in Florida. South Florida, I would no longer suggest as a great place for the retired to retire. It is no longer the laid back and relaxed type of place it once was. It has become very crowded. Towns around Orlando have a lot of great retirement communities. Particularly "The Villages". I think that is in or near Ocala. Also, the west coast of Florida has some very nice places. Try Naples.

I suppose if you are wealthy. Myself if I can ever afford even that, since I am presently on SSI disability I would love to move somewhere like New Mexico. The average mean temperature in Carlsbad is about 72 degrees year round. Sure it gets hotter and it gets somewhat cooler, but if you average it out 72. Also, you are not that far from the mountains or lakes and rivers. So, it seems like the ideal place. I also know they are experiencing a water shortage now, but who isn't. Even though Georgie boy says there is no such thing as global warming it is happening everywhere. But for my peace of mind, like I say, New Mexico sounds great.

No, lived there for four years and moved to SC. It's called GODs waiting room, and some old people do not die gracefully.

It's called GODs waiting room.
You have to do a little research into it.
Different people like different things:
Beach, Golf, shopping, entertainment, etc.
