What are judgments you have made this week? For each judgment, make a comment about the value that led to this judgment and name a possible consequence. (Example: “That red dress is perfect for the party.” Value: Red looks good on me and is festive. Consequence: I bought the dress. OR “Janice is irritating; she drives me nuts.” Value: Her behavior conflicts with something I feel is important. Consequence: I avoid her.)

Judgments are decisions (evaluations) made in the moment, but held (and continued) after that time.

We make and refresh judgments every time we find a restaurant we like or don't like, every time we drive a particular route (judging that the roads will be there again later) -- we make judgments based on assumptions that our house is organized the same way as when we left in the morning, and that the people we know will still remember us.

These kind of judgments are a natural part of living in a physical/tangible world -- and almost unavoidable without a huge amount of additional effort.

The judgments that I try to avoid -- and usually succeed -- are believing that just because one person acted a certain way, and just because that person claims affiliation to a particular group, then all people in that group must act the same way. That's more than just a judgment, it's a generalization.
