Did you ever have a COP in your hometown that would give you a break when you got in trouble or was breaking the law. because he was so cool and just turned the other cheek...???

Yes when my brother first started driving you could hear him burn his tires on Main street. Then it wouldn't be long and he'd pull in with the cop behind him and the cop would tell my dad to straighten him out, lol. It was a real small town and the cop knew everyone. Ah those were the days.

Yes , there were quite a few when I was growing up that were
like that , but not anymore. On the other hand, I never saw a lot
of dangerous people back then and now there are so many
criminals that hurt others and think nothing of it and on the opposite coin so many that are sue crazy that police can't be
like that too often anymore.

I was puttin' my Dad's car through its paces when I was 17 and a police car started to follow me without lights, but I knew it was a cop and he had seen me driving recklessly (though I was doing it with great skill)... I pulled over in a cul-de-sac and he pulled up behind me and came over and took my license and made me stew in the car for awhile... but after scaring the hell outta me, he let me off with a warning if I promised to take the car right home and never drive like that on public roads again.

i grew up in a small town and the sheriff would give us breaks if we were caught doing nonviolent stuff like drinking or smoking pot. he didn't do it to be cool. he did it because he knew our parents and said it would break their hearts to know what we were doing. of course this worked better than any legal recourse. no one wanted to break their parents hearts and let them know what a bunch of screw ups we were so we stopped whatever we were doing. he made it clear to us that if some one else caught us they wouldn't be concerned with our parents feelings. in retrospect this was a great plan. it straightened us up and he didn't have to do a lot of paper work or show up for a court date.

We had a few when I was young (long time ago), one caught us smoking pot all the time, just told us to go down by the river where we wouldn't bother anyone else, one caught us at the stripper pits and he just took us back to town a couple blocks from home and told us not to go back especially at night because they were so dangerous.

Oh yes, when my husband and I were dating, we were caught parking by a hometown cop that I knew very well. He shined his light on us...thank God we were dressed...haha! It sure was embarrassing to me and the cop knew my mom, so then she knew!! Was my face red!! ....lol

Yes.
There were several.
One in particular was really protective of me, because his Mom was my Sunday School teacher. If I was caught by local police I got out of it, but the State gave me speeding tickets regardless.
Peace.
