I am in 8th grade, and one of our major art projects is a personal art project, and it can be anything (Ex:Sculpture, painting, drawing, papier mache, etc). I usually strive at this, but I am having a huge mind block! Please help.

Best Geek,
First choose what you want to say about yourself with your project. Next, decide which of the types of art (painting, papier mache`) you love the most. Then go for it. If you need more help, you may email me through my profile and I will help you.

It really depends on what you are good at and how you feel. Go to an art store and walk down the aisles; this may give you ideas. You could also research a certain painting and try to mimic it, present your research with it and make the research relevant to the art itself - for ex. how you made it/how you think the original artist made it based on supplies that are available to you today vs. the supplies available to the artist at the time the painting was made; techniques you or the artist may have used that were the same or different. And so on....

Best bet is improvise and make stuff up as you go along. Do not care about technique, be impulsive. If it does not look great so what? You could take these improvised pieces apart and make a mosaic or a paper sculpture out of them. If that does not work, then use it as a small part you can add to more parts till you get something interesting.
