so my old classmate has apparently tried to rob someone and stabbed him. he's about 18 or 19 and he has 3 felonies on him and his friend.
attempted murder, assault with deadly weapon, and attempted robbery..
so do you think 30 years is too much for beating a guy up? i mean the guy got stabbed and badly beaten up like knocked out with blood and **** but no permanant physical damage. he might be scared to go around a certain district but he walk and function correctly.
don't you get 25 for killing someone non premeditated? how are you gonna get 30 for not killing the guy though?

no.. they rolled up all those felonies in one. he threatened the guy with a knife then he stabbed him like twice with his friend. they beat him up pretty badly like kicking his teeth prolly.
but the point is that it's kind of hard on him since he's doing 30 at age 18. i mean, what do you think he's gonna do when he comes out at 48? straighten up? all he's been exposed to is more violence and **** man. i say he should've gotten maybe 10 and a really strict probation afterwards. yes he has a bad history of stealing and drugs and other **** but it's not something life threatening until this once. throwing him in jail and letting him out in 30 years, he's probably going to buy some AKs and fight to stay out until the death man. i'm just saying that this is not a reasonable punishment for that and there are better ways of sorting this instead of putting the problem away for 30 years.

i'm not helping him.. it's just sad to see one of your friends fooling around in class and then he goes to jail for 30 years for beating someone up. 30 years is a little extreme. i say he only deserves about 10.
And I'm not a dumbass or anything because i'm expressing my opinion of a harsh sentence. he doesn't deserve 30 years when he's only 18. he needs a therapist to help him. why does everyone always resort to throwing them in jail? that's such a stupid punishment. everyone always come out worse.

it wasn't premeditated. he doesnt know the guy, he didnt follow the guy. he saw something he wanted and he tried to take it but i guess the guy did something to piss him off. it's not premeditated and no he doesn't deserve 30 years. but whatever, you guys never had to go through this.

You are correct, he do not deserve thirty years, he deserves longer. You don't worry about the trauma the robbed person is going to suffer, because your friend is 18/19 you think there should be a reduction for his pathetic assault, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, if this was not premeditated what was it ?a stroll in the park, come on man, he deserves longer.

he's got a past record. And usually the "record" is only the times they got caught ! He's an habitual offender. What are you going to do with the rest of your life ? Is this the environment you wish to live in ? Are you going to spend the next 30 years, going to visit, writing letters, or whatever it is they do there ? He's locked up. Go out, find a nice guy. Have beautiful children. Get a real life !

If I was the judge of it I would cut the guys limbs off, no joke. How could he do it again if he had no limbs?
People don't deserve to be robbed or stabbed. There's no excuse or justifications you can give for it.
All I can say is I feel sorry for the guy who got stabbed. If only your dumb friend in jail could experience what the victim is thinking and feeling right now.
You can't be too sharp yourself if you're friends with someone like that.

I think it's great. Maybe if more criminals were giving harsh sentences there would be less crime. This should be a lesson to all the thugs out there.
People should feel safe in to walk in the street, go to the grocery store, or anywhere else they want to go without being ruthlessly attacked.

Look at his past, I mean he already has 3 felonies on him. They can't just keep giving him slaps on the wrist, He hasn't got the point yet. What else are they suppose to do, They can't keep letting him off...He's never gonna learn that way! Sorry but thats what I think!

its not for beating the guy up. its bc he has had 2 previous chances to straighten up his life and yet he chooses to repeat his illegal actions therefore yes he deserves the 30 yrs. he had a choice in life n now 3 times he choose to do wrong n he knew that he would get the 30 yrs if he did wrong n he choose to do it anyways.

WTF indeed. He's a habitual felon, also known as "three strikes and you're out." Sentence for the b*tch act is usually 30 years regardless. And you sound like a cull, while we're at it. What kind of person quibbles over the length of sentence someone got for killing someone? Life in prison isn't too long for that. I say put his @zz away and maybe get around to letting him out, or maybe not.

What your friend did is considered to have great depravity. He tried to stab a stranger to death just for a few bucks. The court doesn't have any sympathy for that.
