I have a windows XP computer that's a hand-me-down. It has a compaq data fax modem, and network adapters. I know how to bring up the device manager, but I don't know what this stuff means. Will I need to buy more equipment to use this computer wirelessly?

it may have an ethernet adapter but it may not have a wireless ethernet adapter - you would need one to go wireless. most on the market now work with XP. I would recomend your pc has at least 256 mb ram and a 1ghz cpu minimum but i have seen them work with less.

you can either get a wireless pci card that gets installed inside the pc or you can get a usb one that goes outside the case in a usb port.
