its an older general electric oven. is there a store I can take it to and just say: hey I need a replacement that matches this? I live in fort worth texas and we have every major store. any help would be appreciated.

There will be a business in your town that sells appliance parts. Look in the yellow pages under appliances. You can also get it at a store that sells the same brand of ovens that you are trying to fix.

You will need the model number off your oven. If they'd sell you one with out the model number, I'd be surprised.

There are sites that sell over the internet that will show you all the parts for each brand. You can also go to general sections of the site that show all oven element photos and browse it. http://www.appliance411.com/ They can ship overnight if you need it or by regular delivery and are cheaper than going to a local appliance store.

Try opening the oven door and looking on the inside corner of the frame by the door for a model number tag that will give you a model and serial number. Often if you google with that distinctive model number you can find a lot of sites that carry that particular part.

First try the dealer it came from if not go to local electriced store!
