At twelve years old, you may be needing more time to sleep then have been letting yourself get. Most teenagers start to grow very quickly and they need extra sleep so they can get the growth hormone released. It only releases when you are asleep. You are right that you need to give up the colas/sodas if you are having trouble sleeping, and you do not want to do the situps and pushups for a few hours before sleeping.

Twelve year olds don't usually get sleep apnea, unless they are very very overweight.

Maybe you have sleep apnea! Have you ever went to a doctor for this problem. I wake up tired every day, but it is because I am on anti seizure medication, and that has that effect. It is no fun to wake up tired all time. So I do know where you are coming from. I hope you find out what the problem is and you can get a good nights rest.

I have this problem too. Ive had sleep studies...my thyroid checked...etc etc. Lucid dreams are intense..they seem to suck the life out of you. I know its odd, but I've noticed going to bed hungry, sick or in pain prevents lucid dreaming, your mind focuses on something else. Meditation (daydreaming) before bed can help too...

You could have sleep apnea, or maybe you really arent getting enough sleep, my husband has sleep apnea, and snores all night, has CRAZY dreams, kicks, punches, and has dreams of chemical warfare, and blah blah, but since he has been out of the military he has had a Bi-pap (C-pap) Machine, and doesnt do that stuff much at all anymore.. He still stops breathing at night, 150 times in 1 hour.... Serious issues, can not get to REM sleep...

Talk to your doctor.

I found out that "eating healthy" was actually eating the wrong foods.
I tried the "Blood Type Diet" and I feel much more alert.
