A 2-stroke makes it's rated horsepower at a lower RPM and is generally chosen for weight concerns. A four stroke is JUST AS DEPENDABLE as a two stroke. They are also quieter and more fuel efficient. Horsepower is horsepower and the only difference really is what RPM that rated horsepower is achieved. Generally 2-strokes get on plane faster but 4-strokes have a slightly higher top end as they can turn a faster RPM. Most 2-strokes red-line at 5600 RPM and most 4-strokes red-line at 6000 RPM. If you are looking at new engines go with a Yamaha 4-stroke.

2 strokes do generally generate more power with less weight. However, a two-banger generally doesn't last as long as a 4 stroke. They run a lot hotter, so as a result of constant expansion and contraction from general use, are more likely to require head adjustment and replacement. Also, you have to mix (or at least add) two stroke oil to the fuel, which increases operating costs. 2 strokes also generally get about 10-15 percent less fuel mileage. So, if you are running a long distance or for a long time, the 4 stroke has an advantage. If you are running in an area where you may ride dry for a long time, then have a water crossing (like an enduro), the hotter running 2 stroke has a greater potential for motor damage when the engine is rapidly cooled by contact with water. And 4 strokes don't make everything smell like a chainsaw.

Depends. Horsepower is basically horsepower. 2 stroke engines generally can rev higher. So, therefore more top speed. Only if the gear ratios are the same for each. I bet on the 2 stroke for more top speed.

2 stroke is lighter higher rpm a little faster?? As the weight of the 4 stroke is more. Cost is more better fuel milage , quieter>?There about the same speed>?

2 stroke marine engines have much more low end torque, and are much more reliable.4 cycles are being pushed into the market because of pressure from the environmental wack-o tree huggers. The 4 bangers are also much more expensive.
