Because someone may be answering when they see 0 answers given. By the time it takes to submit this answer and correct all my typing errors, there will already be 10 similar answers. I hope this answers your question.

I'm going to answer this and there is probably at least one answer like mine. I don't do it for the 2 points, I do it because 1. I'm too lazy to scroll down and see if someone already answered it the way I would, 2. Maybe I don't see that anyone has answered it yet, 3. Maybe it's not a straight-forward question like that and answers may be similar, but someone might have a slightly different spin on it or an extra comment that makes it "more attractive" than the other dude's answer.
How's that? ;)

some people for two points yes, but i don't read the answers other people give until after i give mine. questions are meant for different peoples opinions or knowledge on the subject asked about. If I ask what day is it? The answer would depend on time zones and where you live.

I'm gonna say that some people find that it makes them feel like "the other normal people" hahah... what really is the defeninition of normal? Just becaue the other 30 people did it now you have to too? Idk thats what i think!
