While on a recent flight to Tacoma I was looking through a sappy little catalog provided by the airline when I came across a turntable with a USB cable and the info said it could be used to burn CDs from LP records. I tossed the catalog but thought about it later: I have a stack of LP records that if stacked would come up hip high and I would dearly love to burn these onto CDs.

Is it possible to find one of these at a consumer electronics store (i.e. Best Buy, CompUSA)? I'm looking for one of reasonable quality that wouldn't totally wreck my annual budget and didn't take massive amounts of software to get it to work.

Does anyone have any experience with a USB turntable? Good? Bad? So-so? Any brands to stay away from? Recommendations?

Any help would certainly be appreciated.

Hi. Here is a list of USB Turntables. I don't know if some are better than others as i am not familiar with these type of turntables .Did you know that a clean record with no scratches played back on a very good turntable ,arm and cartridge will sound more musical than CD ? I am not suggesting to abandon your plans to record them to CD but if you really want to hear them ,a modern record playing system will blow CD out the window. That's what i have done.and the results are amazing.
