Fell free to post your definition of punk. Mine?

Punk is a way of life. A representation of life without authority. Punk is anarchy. >:)

I agree. it is a way of life that is real to some people but these days has been ruined by people who call themselves punk by flipping off old ladies but hiding in the bathrooms when cops pass by.
anyways, i think that the ramones started punk rock (or were one of the people who started it) and brought on a whole new generation.
a punk is someone with no boundries living life the way they want to, weather it promotes anarchy or not. i actually respect those people who take **** from no one and do stuff their way.

Punk is an attitude....not how you look....not how many tattoos you have....not about body piercing....or how you dress!! As far as the music goes, The Sex Pistols & The Clash get WAY too much credit!!! The Damned & The Ramones were true Punks....were never pretentious....totally had the punk attitude!!!

Punk was created by The Pistols, popularized by The Ramones, and revolutionized by The Clash. I am a Clash fan, cuz they were the true representation of punk, which is, in my opinion, questioning right-wing authority & right-wing politics, and championing musical independence. However, unlike the Pistols, they weren't all self-righteous and on some high-horse, shunning mainstream success as if it labels you a "sell-out". You could be on radio and MTV without compromising your beliefs or changing your outlook on things. Maybe that's why the Pistols never did anything beyond that one album.

punk is pure rebellion. a way of telling the man "stick it"! punk is a way of life and the punk community often hates it when a punk band makes it big, because they're "selling out". the ramones didn't even come close to starting punk. if anyone did, the sex pistols were in on it!

punk is over-rated, c'mon people lets not over-analyze it. Every rock musician today can find roots in punk music tho. I'd give you my punk band's myspace but I'm too punk to care, lol.
