There are a multitude of reasons some people don't support same-sex marriages.
Government, religion and family are the three biggest.
I support it because it allows me to marry my fiance.

I believe that the people who don't support gay marriage are afraid the world's going to end or something. They think of it as a huge sin for people to just be attracted to the same sex and when those people start getting married then that means the end of civilization as they know it. I, personally, think it's all in their heads. I am a huge supporter of gay marriage. I wish it were legal. And, maybe, one day, it will be. Marriage, to me, is just the legal union of two people who truly love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together. I don't think it matters of you are a straight couple or a gay couple. I don't get what some straight people are so afraid of. How can two people loving each other be wrong?

I believe that gay people should have a legalized form of relationship that allows them all the rights of marriage; rights for pensions, health insurance, child custody etc. I do not believe we need to have something called marriage; and I believe that when we push for this we get backlash, trying to take away the progress that we have made. I also feel that the push for gay marriage has been a factor in electing Bush the last 2 terms. I think we should cool the marriage talk and try to get the actual rights that we need.

I support gay marriage.
We have those promoting the anti-gay agenda telling us that sex outside of marriage is wrong. They call it fornication and say we are sinful for engaging in fornication. But then they tell us we cannot get married, because their homophobia should be the basis for the laws we all live under. My question is why are they promoting fornication among gay people if fornication is a sin?

I believe it is a matter of freedom of religion. A large number of faith communities support gay marriage. I do not think that the state has the right to stop its recognition therefore, because to do so they have to regulate and establish certain religions, while ignoring others.
Kind thoughts,
Reyn

I have MPD (multiple personality disorder) so part of me could give a toss if someone marries someone of the opposite gender or the same gender. But also a part of me sees it as a sin. I believe in God so thats why part of me is against it. If I knew for sure there was no God tho, I would be fine with it. BTW, I don't hate homosexuals. I love Elton John.

yep - nothign wrong at all with two people who genuinely love and respect each other getting married (at least in the eyes of gobvernment). Not into forcing churches to marry same gender couples though.

Those who don't want gays to get married are just looking out for our best interest.
Would you want to be legally tied to someone who could eventually turn out to be your worse enemy?
They could then divorce you, take 50% of everything you own, keep taking money from you if you have a kid(s), destroy your credit rating, increase your taxable income.....
They're just trying to save us. Thank you, for saving me from your mistake, anti-gay-marriage-peeps.
