what you are experiencing sounds like sciatica. which essentially means that there is a compression of nerves in your lower spine causing pain to shoot down from your hips usually to your knees or sometimes even lower. your best remedy for this is to stay off your feet and take tylenol for pain relief when necessary.

Sounds like Sciatica...a pinched nerve in your back that is causing nerve pain down your legs and into your hips.
Its very uncomfortable and really only gets better after you give birth. You can lessen the pain by sleeping with a large pillow between your knees, to separate your hips. Make sure your mattress is good and firm, supportive of your back.
When you get up, move slowly and try not to twist at the waist...keep your spine straight..dont slouch. Sit with a pillow behind your back in the lower back area.
use an ice pack in the small of your back for about 10-15 minutes a few times a day. Sit straight and move slowly.
If it gets terrible, ask your doctor...there may be pain killers they can give you, but chances are its a matter of time.

This might be sciatica which can be helped with Tylenol, warm chamomile baths, special exercises, massage or perhaps even a chiropractor who is experienced in treating pregnant women.
My midwife gave me a sitting position to try that helped take pressure off the sciatic nerve. Sit straight up in a chair, cross one leg over the other man-style. While sitting as straight as you can push down firmly but gently on the crossed leg. This will cause a deep stretch in that leg and take pressure off that nerve providing temporary relief.

Of course.. the many aches and pains of pregnancy.
Pregnancy is taxing on your body. You are carrying more weight, obviously, so your joints and muscles are having a hard time.
Of course, mention it to your doctor. Acetaminophen is safe to take while you are pregnant (as long as your are not allergic). That should help a little. So do massages :)
Other than that, rest as much as you can, and, well, get used to it.. because it's going to get WAY worse before it gets better.
Congratulations, btw. And good luck. :)

Im 25 weeks and working all day on my feet going up and down stairs like crazy and thats whats causing mine. I just evaluate my feet when I get home for about and hour and than walk around a little. good luck and congratulations!

You're carrying around alot more weight. The most you can really do is try to sit with your legs elevated whenever you get the chance. I work in the health field and was always on my feet, so every possible moment I had to sit, I sat.

when you get pregnant your joints will start to hurt because you are putting on weight that they arent use to. Lay down and put your feet up on a couple of pillows. Trust me, it does wonders. I am two months pregnant and i am not in shape for it. I put my feet up all the time. it works. try it.

Have you called your doctor? I would try a maternity belt. It may take some of the weight off. But you have to realize the baby is getting bigger and putting more weight in your pelvis. I hope it gets better for you.
