I can tell you the worst day of my life was today. Beyond doubt, absolutely the worst day I have ever had. I found my trusted business partner had left us this morning, found him in his bed...I knew his time was short, what with diabetes I, kidney failure, high blood pressure, but I was not prepared for this...I have vacillated between extreme grief and extreme sense of loss since 10 AM .... and today was my birthday...not that my birthday is any great thing to celebrate, but we had planned such a nice time for him....I hope I NEVER had another day like today. I have lived 66 years and never found someone dead before. A stranger I could have taken in stride. But my trusted best friend, my partner, .... I have no idea how I am going to get through this. I feel like an utter fool for being so grief stricken, but I cannot help it. I am here on YA! tonight to try to get my mind off this horror story...it is not working one bit! I hope,... sincerely hope he has found a peaceful place. He had suffered so much in the past 3 years, total kidney failure, dialysis 4 times a week (not for the cowardly), 4 heart attacks, hospital after hospital, and yet, he always had a smile, always was kind, never complained....I have no idea what I am going to do.

The day my granddaughter was born. She is the first female in the family since me and, to think it only took 58 years. We have always had boys in the family, on both side. My father had 9 brothers, 2 sisters. My mom had 2 brothers and she was the only girl. I was the oldest and only girl and had six brothers. None of my brother have any children. I had two sons.
Goldwing, my condolences, for the loss of your friend and partner. You have mentioned him several time in this forum. I'm also sorry that this had to happen on your birthday. Now you will always have sad memories of this day, which should be a happy time for you. May he rest in peace, his suffering is over.

I've never had a best day. In fact I don't think anyone can have a "best day" some days are better than others, and ultimately, there are always some good things that happen in a day and some bad things.

Days are like sex and pizza...some are just better than others. Any day I can get up on my own and see that I haven't peed the bed is a beginning of a good day.

I have two best days: One when my baby boy was born and the day I retired. Was ecstatic for both events.
