my grandmother raised me and my favorite dessert that she made for me was Blackberry Dumplings.

My mom still is the greatest cook I know.
I remember most, her home made angel food cakes. When she took it out of the oven she would turn it upside down over a heavy bottle until it was cool ( I guess). Remember the center of the pan was hollow? Her cheesecakes were the bomb too.
She still loves to bake and when someone in their church gets married they will ask mom to make the cake. She does a beautiful 4 layer with all the trimmings.

Rhubarb pie, which I hate, but my brother loved, so he used to eat practically the whole thing. She also made a pecan pie, which I loved. It was so rich you could only have a small slice. We didn't have to many desserts, It's just the pies I remember.
Oh yeah, she also made Lemon meringue and chocolate pudding pie. Guess she was just a pie person, as I don't remember any cakes.

don't remember my mom making any special desserts for me except for my birthday cake. but my GRANDMA --- now that's a different story!! she made the best cinnamon rolls you ever had - they just melted in your mouth. i know tha's not a dessert to most people, but when i would go and spend the night with her it was usually after school on fridays and she would get them started while i was in school. her and i would finish rolling them out, and finsh them after we had dinner, so to me they were dessert. at christmas, she would make all different kinds of cookies and candies. some of them i still make, but i have never been able to master making taffy or divinity. love them both and i haven't had good of either since she died in 1983. good grief i miss her

My Mom made a very special dessert especially for my Dad, but the rest of us really enjoyed it.
Butterscotch pie, of course, from scratch. I have her recipe.

Yes, only on my birthday...called Orange Raisin Nut Cake, a very nasty from scratch cake that calls for hand cutting raisins, one by one into small pieces...and uses a cream cheese icing...took here about 3 hours to make the cake, cussing the whole time, but .....it will always be my favorite cake. Whenever she made that for me, there was no doubt the love she had for me.

Nanaimo bars. My Mom was known for these, and if she didn't bring a batch to whatever dinner we got invited to for the holidays, the people were always disappointed.

My dad was diabetic, so no dessert for us except this horrible
canned fruit with saccharine, which left an after taste that you couldn't get rid of.
