will they have to be rewired - is this expensive or will I have to buy a converter and where will I get these from?

U.K. Standard voltage is 220 IIRC.
U.S. uses 120V.
The sockets would probably need to be changed, and while the insulation would be OK the wire core might be undersized unless only those mini-fluorescent lamps were used.

No, they do not have to be re-wired. Wire is wire, and I am sure it is the same type that is used in the USA. The light fixtures do not have any kind of devise on or in them that would require a converter. That is, unless for some reason, they are low voltage lights, and I doubt that would be the case for a chandelier.

The wire does NOT know what the voltage is going through it! I don't want to get into an argument here, but you people that gave me a bad answer don't know what you are talking about

I have wired many machines that were shipped to the UK, and always used American guage wire .

Wer'e talking about a simple light fixture! cheezzz!
