I am trying to decide whether to use cloth or disposable nappies. I have researched the pros and cons but just can't decide which will be best for me. What will/did you use and why? If you have used both, which did you prefer and why?
Thanks

I've used disposables with my last three children, but this time I'm going to try cloth nappies. The amount of waste produced by disposables (esp. in the early months) is atrocious and they are very expensive. I tried cheap store brands to save money but they leaked or were very uncomfortable for the baby and so had to use the expensive name brands to get the quality I needed.

I know that washing cloth nappies takes time, but I have that as a stay-at-home mother. I also plan to dry them on the line and not in the dryer to save energy.

I also feel that it will be easier to potty-train my child this time around because with cloth nappies they learn very early on what "wet" and "dry" feel like. Disposables keep them "too" dry to be aware of what their body is doing.

I will keep a few disposables on hand for when we go out shopping or traveling, but only as a back-up.

Hope this helps you make your decision!

I chose disposable. I was busy enough as a new mother that laundering cloth diapers did not appeal to me.

Due to the fact that I have enough laundry to do, it just made sense to go disposable. Yes they are more expensive but it's so much easier to just throw away than worry about cleaning up the poo.
